Toys For Tots

Newport Homebuilders is proud to announce that we will participate in the Toys for Tots toy drive again this year. We have really enjoyed gathering toys in the past and are excited to again provide drop off points for toys. Please visit one of our model homes to drop off your new, unwrapped toy. We have been very fortunate this year and there are many that were less fortunate than us that need our help. So please help us in this great cause. The collection date will be Dec. 7th, so please bring your toys to our models before then. Thank you for your help.

Mortgage Plan Promises Relief To North Texans

Federal mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are expediting a new plan that would help many people near foreclosure. The plan is designed to help those who have lost a job or can prove economic hardship. Those who are approved will be able to have lower interest rates or a lower principal. This is great news for those in the DFW area who are struggling with the mortgage payment and are in danger of losing their homes.

The article says "to apply, homeowners should contact their mortgage servicer and provide: the household's monthly gross income, any association dues or fees, and the "hardship" that explains why they got behind." Good luck. Let us all work together to keep the DFW economy strong and vibrant.

The Purpose of This Blog

Have you ever wondered why the news media focus on the bad news? Why do they focus on the negative when so much positive is happening in the world? David Blanchard wrote on industryweek.com "Bad news is more likely to attract a casual reader’s eye than good news. It’s a secret journalists have known for years." Do you agree? We certainly do. That really helps explain the focus on bad news.

Peter McWilliams commented to the same effect when he said “The news media are, for the most part, the bringers of bad news... and it's not entirely the media's fault, bad news gets higher ratings and sells more papers than good news.”

Because we agree with Malcolm X when he said "the media's the most powerful entity on earth. They have the power to make the innocent guilty and to make the guilty innocent, and that's power.
